Early career |
| Initially Geert worked in a science laboratory utilising his previous scientific studies. In the early eighties, he was exposed to the IT industry and decided to change direction: from an account manager role during the first 2 years, Geert quickly became involved in new business development, establishing a number of successful new business units. |
| Entrepreneur |
| In the early nineties an opportunity occurred for Geert when he started work for a new company, focused on the marketing and distribution of a newly-developed document automation tool. Due to the difficult economical circumstances during that period, the company decided that all non-profitable or start-up business would be eliminated in order to restructure the financial situation. This opened up the opportunity for Geert to start his own business, following a management buy-out. During the next seven years the company grew to more than 300 operational customers with users in almost every continent around the world. Geert finally sold this business in 1998. Geert was then asked by a leading North American document automation and Document management company to start up their European operations. As European Managing Director Geert set up offices in the UK, Benelux and Germany and created a foundation for building the business which resulted in the largest deal in the company's history. |
| Joining Document Boss |
| Geert Joined Document Boss in January 2002 as director
for the Benelux region. Due to his management experience and skills in
the e-DM, Workflow and Content management industry, he immediately became
one of the principal partners. During his time with Document Boss, Geert
has facilitated a number of acquisitions, trade sales and start-up companies
within the eDM sector. He has the situational fluency to quickly gain
an in-depth understanding of his client's requirements and the knowledge
and resources to help them grow their business. From the middle of 2003, Geert has become Senior Vice President of Western Europe. |
| Spare time: |
| Besides spending time with his wife and three children, Geert likes to keep in shape with the typically Dutch pastime of speedskating. When time permits, Geert is to be found twice a week at the local, indoor ice-skating rink and during the summer, outside on his skeelers (5-wheel, in-line skates) or running and mountain biking. One of Geert's more exhilarating hobbies is taking part in survival runs, when he is to be found ploughing through woods, water, mud and other such delights! He lives in the North of the Netherlands in a large farmhouse which is more than 200 years old. |
