The US economy continues to make a slow recovery back from the bottom. In January 2010, unemployment improved, more new jobs were found and most measures of economic growth remained positive. However, most economists agreed that growth would be slow but steady, with full recovery and rapid growth beginning to occur at the end of 2010.
Despite, the poor economy, more companies in the ECM, BPM and BPO sectors are reporting a business resurgence and strong opportunity for growth in the early stages of 2010. More importantly, many are also reporting impressive final results for 2009.
Some of the hottest areas in the US include:
· Healthcare and Electronic Medical records (EMR) – growing well and also some huge sums of government money available
· SaaS and Hosting Solutions – an “easy entry” means of accessing the full benefits from the range of technologies
· BPO and Outsourced Services – companies are saving on outsourcing and focusing on their core areas of competency
· Lower cost ECM solutions and lower annual maintenance solutions – an industry has emerged, focusing on far more cost-effective solutions than those offered by the largest players
· SharePoint Solutions – customers are taking advantage of current SharePoint licenses and installing ECM solutions on top of SharePoint
· Procurement and Purchase to Pay solutions – companies are taking advantage of the significant cost savings available
The focus in North America is squarely on solutions to business problems. Companies that are fast to tailor solutions seem to be winning out.
